MF3711 Additive Manufacturing Laboratory Syllabus – Anna University Regulation 2021

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

• To provide hands on experience in the field of Additive manufacturing technology for product development
• To learn various 3D printing machine operations with experiments
• To familiarize various software tools, processes and techniques to create physical objects that satisfy product development / prototyping requirements, using AM.
• To be acquainted with vat polymerization and material extrusion processes.
• To be familiar with powder bed fusion and direct energy deposition.
• To gain knowledge on applications of binder jetting, material jetting manufacturing processes.

LIST OF EXPERIMENTS

• Study of 3D printing Machines (FDM, SLS, SLA, SLM etc.)
• Create 3D Model of a physical part by reverse engineering
• Create 3D model of a product / component by design for additive manufacturing
• Create 3D design and develop part by FDM process
• Create 3D design and develop part by SAL process
• Create 3D design and develop part by SLS process
• Create 3D design and develop part by SLM process

TOTAL : 60 PERIODS
OUTCOMES:

Upon the completion of this course the students will be able to
• Ability to operate various 3D printing machine
• Ability to choose a suitable Additive Manufacturing (AM) method and process parameters
• Ability to face the research challenges associated with AM and its data processing tools
• Ability to elaborate the vat polymerization and material extrusion processes and its applications.
• Ability to acquire knowledge on process and applications of powder bed fusion and direct energy deposition.
